Asher Logan
It's been almost a month since our last little one was born, it's about time I get it written down before I forget the details! And I can say with full surety that he is definitely our last one. After his birth my OB said it would not be safe for me to get pregnant again because my uterus is extremely thin and lacks all muscle tone. So my wonderful hubby took one for the team andKarahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-42800482376319874002016-12-06T09:08:00.001-07:002016-12-06T09:08:20.500-07:00Just going to put this out there...
I know we said Michael was the last one, but we've got another little boy on the way! Due in April but he'll most likely be born in March.

It is a bittersweet moment when you give birth to your last baby. Even knowing that I'm physically and mentally at my limit with 7 kids, it is sad to know that I will never experience feeling a baby move inside me or see my body grow a life inside it.
On the other hand, it is a relief to know that I will not have to deal with another pregnancy with gestational diabetes. With Rachel, it was Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-80595577918767816552014-10-24T12:47:00.002-06:002014-10-24T12:47:47.314-06:00And then there were 9...
Little Rachel is going to be a big sister! We are expecting baby #7 in May 2015. I'm 11 weeks and I had my first checkup this week, and uterus feels the right size and the midwife only found 1 heartbeat, so pretty sure it's only one. :) Plus it's been a very easy pregnancy so far, much like Rachel's (maybe another girl?!). I get to have an ultrasound in a few days, yay! My sweet Rachel just turned one last week! I can't believe how fast the year went! She has been such a doll, a cute and calm baby that everyone adores. She's walking a little bit and not saying any real words yet, but babbles more. It has been so much fun having a little girl! The clothes for one are much cuter and she has over 100 Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-4770406751139473412013-08-26T15:21:00.003-06:002013-08-26T15:21:59.326-06:00Beautiful: The VBA2C Birth of Rachel
Rachel Kathleen, 8lb10oz, 21.5", Aug 9 2013
Our beautiful little girl Rachel Kathleen has joined the family! I ended up not going with the natural birth I'd planned, but it went perfectly.
Rachel was due August 23rd. Because I started my school semester on the 21st I really hoped she would make her entrance a few weeks sooner. Not only that but I had gestational diabetes this pregnancy Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-29556492643703525862013-08-06T11:24:00.000-06:002013-08-17T20:39:13.157-06:00"Trust Birth"On many natural birth messageboards I've been to, this phrase is often said- "Trust birth". They want you to trust that your body and baby know exactly what to do and that the majority of time things will go exactly as they should. While I agree that the majority of time an unmessed with labor will go just fine, I do not agree that you can "trust" that it will.
I do not trust birth. We waited a few weeks to tell everyone because I had 2 chemical pregnancies previously and wanted to be sure this one was sticking before announcing. I'm currently 7.5 weeks and feeling mostly good so far. I got bloated right away this time, which never really happened with any of the others. Life gets busy with 5 little boys! The twins are amazing. I am so lucky to have them and all my boys! We decided to start trying for #6 (and maybe a girl finally?!) in June. I got pregnant in July but had an early miscarriage/chemical pregnancy about a week later. I blame it on double preggo brain lol. Really, I've just been very busy with school, the holidays, and life in general. So quick recap of how things are going:* I switched from the clinic I was going to at 26 weeks because I felt I wasn't getting the best care there. I now see a maternal-fetal medicine OB who Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-15703724426169321652010-09-03T14:35:00.003-06:002013-03-26T20:48:05.464-06:00Well, this changes things...So we had our ultrasound this week on Wednesday. We got there early because I was supposed to have a checkup before it, but there was a mixup and my checkup was Thursday. So we were early but they got us back right away. The ultrasound tech was really nice and was chatting with us about our kids and how many siblings we have. Then she says, "So this will be 5 then." I looked at Nate confused and Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-51216322014299876952010-08-20T16:05:00.003-06:002010-08-20T16:18:33.715-06:00Pregnancy UpdatesSo, I've had 2 appointments so far. It's a bit odd not knowing which midwife I will see for an appointment since it is such a large group, but the two I've met (and one student) were very nice. At my first appointment they did all the normal first visit stuff like background, bloodwork, pap, etc. I was bummed they did not do an ultrasound, because I've always had an ultrasound at my first Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-42384909348380867212010-06-04T16:38:00.002-06:002010-06-04T16:45:38.925-06:00Positive update!Well, we have found out some exciting news to finally add to this depressing blog! Baby #4 is due next February! Although I am still extremely nervous about how the birth may go this time, we are excited to be adding another little one to our family. I am grateful that there is a hospital near that will support VBA2C and that they have a large group of midwives who deliver there. I was reading some posts by ladies due this month. The first was a girl who wanted a VBAC but last week had an ultrasound that showed her baby was almost 10lbs. So they scheduled a c/s for yesterday. Guess how much the baby weighed? 7lb 11oz. Seriously. Over 2lbs LESS than the u/s showed. My emotions about this vary so much that I keep waiting for the right time to post, but I need to remember it's a process and I should just go with it. Some days I think I'm starting to "get over it" and feel some peace, but then other days something will just pop up and make me want to cry. For example, we had a birthday part for Jakey a few weeks ago and Karahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06825366006877044399noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1782164096882039892.post-42390829901031978912009-04-17T11:13:00.004-06:002009-04-17T11:59:41.054-06:00Physical Recovery from C/S #2I was happy to recover much quicker from my second c-section than I had from my first. My first was a pretty normal recovery, but took at least a month to feel back to normal. With my second I felt pretty much normal after 2 weeks.I was allowed to get out of bed to walk to the bathroom about 12 hours after the surgery. We had just moved to a new city, in fact we moved to our new house just days after getting that positive pregnancy test. It was an exciting time with so many new changes happening.
I had been in contact with a midwife who does homebirths and was opening up her own birth suite in the fall. And it's all kinds of birth stories, from the one's that had every intervention under the sun and still had their "perfect" birth, to the scheduled c-sections, to the unassisted homebirths. I was so happy to see an article that gave some good information on actual statistics and the way women are being forced to undergo surgery they don't really want because they feel there is no other option. The faster I get through my previous experiences and recall the emotions of them, the faster I have to get to discussing my latest experience. There are so many things I'm not sure I've dealt with. I had trusted my OB to make the decision and I was just happy to have my darling little boy. He was an easy-going baby, napped a lot and hardly cried.
